Description de l'offre d'emploi

væridion recrute : Senior High-Voltage Electrical Design Engineer (all genders), à Munich HQ, Allemagne (CDI).

Your Mission: As Senior High-Voltage Electrical Design Engineer (all genders) you will lead the electrical design of the battery packs, power distribution units (PDUs), and junction box of the propulsion battery system for VÆRIDION's CS-23 all-electric aircraft. You will own everything electrical on and within these units, from cell interconnections and busbars to protection and safety devices, internal HV and LV wiring, and the HV power and LV communication connector interfaces. Through electrical modelling and analysis, you will close the design before it moves to test and provide the engineering evidence that the propulsion battery system is electrically safe, robust, and certifiable. Within the Airborne Electronics team, you will collaborate with Electronic Hardware Design and Power Electronics, and work closely with the Electrical Systems Architect and the HV Electrical Systems, Mechanical Design & Integration, Thermal Systems, Cell Technology, Safety, and Certification teams to ensure that the design of each unit is fully aligned with the propulsion battery system and the aircraft electrical system. Your work will directly contribute to the propulsion battery system that underpins VÆRIDION's mission to bring electric flight to regional aviation.   Your Day-to-Day: • Lead the electrical/electrothermal design of HV equipment for an 800 V class propulsion battery system, covering topology, segregation, protection, isolation, precharge, and safe disconnection within each unit. • Align the electrical design of each unit with the propulsion battery system and the aircraft electrical system, working closely with the HV Electrical Systems team and the Electrical Systems Architect. • Design cell interconnections and busbars as well as develop the cell connection system together with the Mechanical Design & Integration team. • Specify and select protection and safety devices, including contactors, fuses, pyrofuses, precharge components, current sensors, manual service disconnects, and the HV interlock loop, working with Airborne Electronics colleagues where solid-state power controllers (SSPCs) are used. • Define the HV power and LV communication connector interfaces of each unit together with the HV Electrical Systems team. • Lead or support component specification, selection, and supplier engagement depending on the component, together with the responsible teams. • Develop or assist with electrical models of the full battery pack to close the design before testing, and support propulsion battery system modeling of performance and failure cases together with the HV Electrical Systems team. • Perform electrical/electrothermal analyses, including short-circuit and fault current, protection coordination, insulation coordination, creepage and clearance, partial discharge at altitude, voltage drop, and Joule losses as input to the Thermal Systems team. • Own the grounding, bonding, shielding, and EMC design within each unit. • Define the physical layout and routing of electrical components together with the Mechanical Design & Integration team. • Perform safety analyses such as FMEA for each unit or support the Safety team in system-level safety assessments. • Draft test requirements (TRQs) for electrical verification, independently or together with the respective teams as required. • Create and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, requirements, and interface definitions under configuration control, and contribute to design reviews and certification evidence.   Your Profile: • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. • 5+ years of experience in HV electrical design, preferably in aerospace or automotive battery systems, or other safety-critical industries. • Proven experience in the electrical design of HV battery packs, power distribution units, or junction boxes. • Strong understanding of HV DC distribution and protection, including contactors, fuses, pyrofuses, precharge circuits, insulation monitoring, HV interlock, and fault coordination. • Experience designing busbars and cell interconnections, including current-carrying capacity, thermal derating, and short-circuit withstand. • Experience with insulation coordination, creepage and clearance, and partial discharge, ideally for equipment operating at altitude. • Proficiency with electrical modeling and analysis tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Simscape Electrical, PLECS, or equivalent. • Proficiency with ECAD tools such as Zuken E3.series, Siemens Capital, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or equivalent. • Experience with grounding, bonding, shielding, and EMC design. • Experience writing requirements and test requirements, and correlating analysis results with test data. • Experience with safety analyses such as FMEA, FTA, and FHA is desirable. • Experience with electronics or PCB design, including flex PCBs, is beneficial. • Working proficiency with 3D CAD, such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX, is beneficial. • Familiarity with CS-23, DO-160, DO-311A, DO-254, ARP4754A/B, ARP4761/4761A, and IEC 60664-1 is beneficial. • Strong problem-solving skills, technical curiosity, and attention to detail. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. German is a plus. • Passionate about aviation and the electrification of flight. We recognize that women and other under-represented groups are often overlooked in our industry. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every listed qualification, we still encourage you to apply. Talent and potential can’t always be captured in a checklist.   Why us? • Be part of an ambitious team determined to shape the future of aviation. • We are an in-office company, but we value flexibility and trust employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work or adjusting hours to accommodate personal commitments. • Subsidized EGYM Wellpass membership: your (mental) health is important for us. • Enjoy a subsidized lunch with a 5€ company contribution per meal on office days. • Become a part of our success with virtual stock options. • Choose the option that suits your needs: either a free charging station for your electric car or a public transport job ticket as part of the Deutschlandticket. • Lease a high-quality bicycle or e-bike through our JobRad program and benefit from tax advantages. Whether for your daily commute or personal use, enjoy more mobility and sustainability. • Pension scheme to support your long-term financial security. • Work in one of our offices in Munich or Delft. Enjoy the modern Balan Campus in Munich or work inside the aerospace ecosystem at TU Delft. • Boost your professional as well as personal growth executing your own ideas and independent projects. • Join our internal social events and retreats (e.g. cooking, game nights, sports).
