Role Description The Air Freight Operations Lead (Import and Export) is a full-time, on-site role based in the Riyadh Region. This role oversees end-to-end air freight operations, including coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, managing booking requests, and ensuring timely cargo handling and delivery. Responsibilities include liaising with airlines, ground handlers, and customers; preparing and reviewing air waybills and other shipping documents; monitoring shipment status; and resolving operational issues quickly and accurately. The role also involves aligning operations with customs clearance and compliance requirements, optimizing routing and costs, maintaining accurate records, and leading or mentoring team members to ensure consistent service quality. The Air Freight Operations Lead works closely with commercial and customer service teams to provide proactive updates, manage expectations, and support continuous process improvement. Qualifications • Experience in air freight operations for import and export, including shipment planning, routing, and coordination with airlines and freight forwarders. • Strong knowledge of international trade procedures, customs regulations, documentation requirements, and compliance standards relevant to air cargo. • Proficiency in logistics and supply chain processes, including warehouse coordination, last-mile delivery planning, and cargo tracking systems. • Demonstrated ability to lead day-to-day operations, prioritize tasks under time pressure, and manage or mentor team members in an operational environment. • Effective communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage, especially for coordination with local authorities and partners. • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in document preparation, data entry, and record keeping. • Customer-focused mindset, with the ability to handle urgent requests, manage expectations, and provide clear shipment updates. • Comfort with using logistics software, ERP or TMS systems, and common office productivity tools. • Relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related Must Have: 3 years in air-freight operations at a forwarder or airline / GSA in KSA or the GCC, with letters from previous employers (dates + duties); a valid IATA DGR Acceptance certificate (Category 6 / function 7.3), or ready to sit it within 30 days; KSA airport experience: SAL terminals, FASAH, delivery orders, CargoGate; Arabic + English. IATA Cargo Introductory diploma; experience at an IATA-accredited agent (CASS settlements, e-AWB, Cargo iQ milestones); SABER / SFDA awareness for regulated goods.
