Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Equine Veterinary Nurse role based in Zone 54. The Equine Veterinary Nurse will support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to racehorses and other equines, including assisting with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures. Daily tasks include monitoring vital signs, administering medications and fluids, preparing and maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate medical records. The role involves handling and restraining horses safely, assisting with imaging and laboratory tests, and supporting rehabilitation and preventive care programs. The nurse will also help maintain a clean, safe clinical environment, communicate clearly with veterinary and training staff, and participate in emergency care as needed. Qualifications • Formal training or certification in veterinary nursing or veterinary technology, ideally with experience in equine practice. • Strong skills in equine handling, restraint, and general horse management, with a focus on safety and welfare. • Ability to assist with clinical procedures, including medication administration, wound care, bandaging, and pre- and post-operative support. • Competence in basic diagnostics such as sample collection, laboratory preparation, and support with imaging procedures. • Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with veterinarians, trainers, and stable staff. • Attention to detail for maintaining accurate medical records, treatment logs, and inventory of supplies and medications. • Physical ability to work in an active stable and clinical environment, including handling large animals and working flexible or extended hours when required. • Commitment to ethical animal care, infection control, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. • Previous experience in a racing or equestrian clinic environment is an advantage; proficiency in English and familiarity with local regulations are beneficial.
